This study aims to investigate whether investments in environment have a positive impact on sales. The sample comprises 29 companies from 11 industries. Data was collected from the social statement (IBASE model) and financial statements, covering the period of 2002 to 2004, providing a set of 87 observations. The analysis was conducted with the panel data model, estimated with fixed effect, after being submitted to the Hausman test, using the EViews 6.0 software. The dependent variable was "net revenue" and the independent variable is "environmental investment". The variables "selling expenses", "total assets" and "GDP" (in constant prices) were used as control variables. The null hypothesis (H0) of the research was rejected, allowing the inference that the investments in environment will not lead to increased sales.Downloads
