Abstract

This study reflects the relevance of artistic practice as an essential formative element for artists and artist-teachers in Visual Arts. The discussion stems from the experience with Pictorial Immersions carried out within the scope of the artisticpedagogical residency, linked to the Apotheke Painting Studio Study Group, a permanent extension project of the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). It investigates how the actions developed in groups—anchored in artistic practice in landscape painting, in individual and collective creative processes—constitute a field of production, research, and creation of knowledge for artistic and teacher training. Through a qualitative, theoretical-reflective, and participatory approach, and grounded in John Dewey's conceptions of aesthetic experience and perspectives on artistic research, the article demonstrates that immersion in painting practice promotes the intertwining of artistic practice and pedagogical action, contributing to the construction of unique teaching styles through the articulation between poetic and educational processes.
