Abstract

This article aims to analyze the identity representation of the protagonist characters in the novel Vozes do Deserto, by contemporary writer Nélida Piñon, in counterpoint with some notions of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari’s philosophy, especially those related to the root and rhizome image, as developed in the literary work: Mil Platôs. Our problematization attempts to understand how the clash between the figure of Scherezade and Caliph develops throughout the narrative, pointing to understanding that the female character, both in her social life and in the role of storyteller, assumesa subjectivation rhizomatic. On the other hand, the male subject is figurative in a contrary position, in which his subjectivity is related to the root-tree’s conjecture, the state organism, in view of his fixed and almost unchanging conduct, being recognized by the reader as a depotentialized figure.
