Eugenio Coseriu: on the presence of literary texts in the classroom

Abstract

In this paper, we have tried to illustrate some of the delineations presented by Eugenio Coseriu in the text "About the teaching of language and literature" (1987) to show the importance of the teaching of literature in conjunction with the teaching of language. In this text, we confer a network of ideas that circulate in other theoretical texts of the author to give visibility to the thought of a linguist whose theoretical undertaking about language was  outlined  by  the  conception  that  language  was,  above  all,  a  social  and cultural activity, whose superior unit of manifestation of meaning is the text.
