This article seeks to promote a brief incursion into the essay The Leaning Tower (1940), produced by Virginia Woolf, in order to outline the possibilities of the literary text as an artifact for the writingof an intellectual history as understood by Dominick LaCapra. The objective is to demonstrate how literature finds a way to collaborating with history for the understanding of an access to the English intellectual ethos in the wake of the beginning of theSecond World War (1939-1941).
