Uma abordagem enativista-ecológica para a interpretação de obras ficcionais

Abstract

Following  the  idea  that  organisms  keep  their  coherence  by interacting with the environment and that, by doing so, they become sense-makers, enactivists have argued that in a social environment what takes part is  participatory  sensemaking.  In  that  case,  meaning  emerges  from  the interaction  between  members  of  a  community.  Some  enactivists  have argued   that   the   recipient   has   more   prominent   participation   in   the production of fiction’s meaning when compared to the producer of the fictional   work.   In   this paper,   this   perspective   will   be   called   recipient-supremacy. The goal of this paperis to argue that this may not be the case. To construct such an argumentation, foursteps will be followed. First, the enactivist understanding of language will be presented and the arguments for  adopting  such  an  approach  will  be  debated.  In  the  second  step,  the arguments for the enactivist perspective called recipient-supremacy will be discussed. In the third step, it will be displayed two arguments for rejecting recipient-supremacy.Finally,  in  the  fourth  step,it  will  be  argued  that  the rejection of this perspective does not exclude the recipient's participation in the  sensemaking  of  the  fictional  work,  specially  considering  Ecological Psychology along with Radical Enactivism. Rather, what the producer does via the story is to  create constraints that narrow down the possibilities for the recipient to make meaning. Therefore, the meaning of a fictional work is a collaborative endeavor involving its producer and recipients.
