A Fenomenologia da Prosa Ficcional Realista, num diálogo com Daniel Kahneman

Resumo: Discute-se a fenomenologia da leitura da prosa ficcional realista a partir de proposições da psicologia de Daniel Kahneman. Aborda-se: 1) as condições pelas quais o processamento do texto produz, na mente do leitor, a impressão de realismo; 2) as condições em que se pode atribuir à leitura a produção de efeitos permanentes sobre as predisposições mentais do leitor. Em relação a (1), aborda-se, em seus vários aspectos e condições de possibilidade, os processos pelos quais o leitor atribui verossimilhança à representação ficcional num viés simultaneamente moral e epistemológico. Em relação a (2), aborda-se a possibilidade de os efeitos mentais produzidos pelo texto realista, que tanto confirmam predisposições prévias do leitor, chegarem a produzir, após o intervalo breve da leitura, alterações permanentes nas suas operações mentais mais espontâneas, incluindo seus padrões de juízo moral, ético e político.

Abstract: The phenomenology of realistic fictional prose reading is discussed through certain propositions from Daniel Kahneman’s psychology. Two main issues are under debate: 1) the conditions under which the processing of the text may produce an impression of realism in the mind of the reader; 2) the conditions under which the production of permanent effects on the reader’s mental predispositions can be attributed to the process of reading. Regarding (1), the article addresses the variety and conditions of possibility of the processes by which the reader attributes verisimilitude to the fictional representation in a simultaneously moral and epistemological bias. Regarding (2), it addresses the possibility that the mental effects produced by realistic texts, which frequently confirm much of the reader’s predispositions, may produce, after the reading period, permanent changes in the reader’s most spontaneous mental operations, including his moral, ethical and political standards of judgment.
