Abstract

O presente trabalho estudou os agentes modeladores da paisagem na praia de Redonda, município de Areia Branca (RN), analisando os fatores geomorfológicos que provocam mobilidades espaciais das dunas e a sua influência direta e/ou indireta nos vestígios culturais pertencentes as sociedades pretéritas. Para tanto se utilizou a pesquisa bibliográfica, geoprocessamento e prospecção em campo. Os resultados preliminares apontam que as mobilidades dunares, produziram alterações espaciais nos processos de deposição/formação dos registros arqueológicos pretéritos, e que, além dos fatores naturais da dinâmica costeira, essas alterações espaciais podem ter sido aceleradas por intervenções antrópicas nos últimos 30 anos.

 

THE INFLUENCE OF COASTAL DYNAMICS ON DUNAR ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES: A Case Study on The Beach of Redonda, Municipality of Areia Branca, State of Rio Grande do Norte

ABSTRACT

In this work, the modeling agents of the landscape were studied in Redonda beach, Municipality of Areia Branca, State of Rio Grande do Norte. They analysis focused on the geomorphological controls that result on dune migration in the area, and their direct and/or indirect influence on the cultural remains and artifacts belonging to the pre-historical groups. In order to accomplish the aims of this research, bibliographic review, geoprocessing and field prospecting were carried out. Preliminary results indicate that dune migration has led to spatial changes in the deposition/distribution processes of pre-historical archaeological records, and that in addition to the natural factors operating on the coastal dynamics, these spatial changes may have been accelerated by anthropic interventions within the last 30 years.
