Abstract

Os sítios do Vale do Rio da Cobra, de acordo com as cronologias definidas até o momento – ± 4000 A.P a ± 1.300 A.P. – e sua localização no espaço, sugerem a possibilidade de relação entre os sítios ritualísticos e os sítios habitacionais identificados na região. A baixa densidade de vestígios que caracterizam estes sítios direcionou a pesquisa para abordagens espaciais e geoarqueológicas, visando definir os processos de formação do registro arqueológico e o índice de informação verificável. O registro da tecnologia cerâmica conduziu à aplicação de análises tecnológicas que visam à reconstituição das características técnicas e formais desses artefatos, sua relação com as outras tecnologias identificadas e seu desenvolvimento temporal no registro arqueológico.

 

OPEN-AIR SITES IN THE SERIDÓ POTIGUAR REGION: A Case Study of the Cobra River, Between Carnaúba dos Dantas and Parelhas, RN


ABSTRACT


The sites at the Cobra river valley, according to the defined chronologies until the moment - ± 4000 A.P to ± 1.300 A.P. - and their location in space, suggest the possibility of a relationship between the ritual sites and the housing sites identified in the region. The low density of vestiges that characterizes these sites directed the research to spatial and geoarcheological approaches, aiming to define the processes of formation of archeological record and the index of verifiable information. The registration of ceramic technology has led to the application of technological analyzes aimed at the reconstitution of technical and formal characteristics of these artifacts, their relationship with other identified technologies and their temporal development in the archeological record.
