Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to adapt, translate, and validate the Workplace Age-friendliness Measure for use in the Brazilian organizational context.

Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative research was carried out applying the scale to a sample of professionals aged 45 years or over. Initial evidence of validation of the scale was obtained, confirming the four dimensions and 24 items of the original scale.

Research, Practical & Social implications: The contribution to the literature is the validation of the Age-Friendly Workplace Scale translated into Portuguese, which can be used to explore the relationship with other variables, such as antecedents or consequences, allowing advances in theorization about an age-friendly environment in different organizational contexts. The practical contribution is the use of the scale as a diagnostic and monitoring tool for projects aimed at older workers.

Originality/value: The diagnosis can help companies identify how their human resources practices are perceived by these workers and support ongoing programs to improve the organizational climate and age management.
