About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal Social Movements and Spatial Dynamics (RMSDE) is a scientific publication linked to the Development and Environment Postgraduate Program (PRODEMA/UFRPE). Its purpose is to publish free of charges scientific articles, literature reviews, book reviews and notes concerning, especially, the role of social movements in processes related to the production of urban and rural space. The journal is destined, therefore, towards professionals in environmental geography and others related fields.

Peer Review Process

The Editorial Team of this Journal is comprised of two Boards (Editorial and Scientific).

Each article submitted for publication will be evaluated by two reviewers (members of the Scientific Board/Evaluators) in process "Double Blind Peer Review".

In case of disagrees, the Editorial Board will request an opinion of a third referee in order to resolve the problem.

The time between submission and the result is approximately 50 days.

Publication Frequency

Social Movements and Spatial Dynamics is a continuos flow publication that, since 2022, publishes a volume per year.

Open Access Policy

- The Social Movements and Spatial Dynamics Journal offers immediately free public access to its content, according to its principal guiding of providing scientific knowledge free-of-charge for public consumption, thus aiding in the process of the global democratization of knowledge.

The Social Movements and Spacial Dinamics journal seeks to protect ethics in publication and the quality of the works submitted. That is why it is committed to the ethical principles of the COP (Commettee on Publication Ethics), which can be accessed at: : http://publicationethics.org/

In order to guarantee the quality of published works and avoid the crime of plagiarism, the editorial board of this journal uses the Plagius 2.4.27 software before evaluating the submitted texts.

Journal history

The Social Movements and Spacial Dinamics journal was created in 2012 on the initiative of the research group Social Movements and Urban Space (MSEU), linked to the Department of Geographical Sciences (DCG) at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Its main objective, at the time of its creation, was to provide the gathering of scientific articles, bibliographic reviews and reviews referring, above all, to the actions of social movements in the processes of space production with the aim of strengthening the reflection on social struggles in the city and in the countryside. Today, under the same objective, the journal is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Development and Environment (PRODEMA) at UFPE.
