Da Dúvida ao Desespero
uma Perspectiva Wittgensteiniana sobre o Gaslighting

“Gaslighting” descreve uma forma de manipulação a qual induz alguém a duvidar das suas percepções, experiências, compreensão de eventos ou mesmo da sua concepção de realidade em geral. Mas que tipo de dúvida é essa? Como dúvidas epistêmicas “ordinárias” diferem dessas dúvidas que podem levar ao desespero e à sensação de que se está enlouquecendo? O fenômeno do “gaslighting” tem atraído atenção pública há um tempo e recentemente adentrou reflexões filosóficas que tratam de aspectos morais, sexistas e epistêmicos do gaslighting. Entretanto, pouco foi dito sobre a natureza das dúvidas induzidas por gaslighting elas mesmas, como elas se diferenciam dos (auto)questionamentos ordinários, mesmo “razoáveis”, e como alguém pode chegar a duvidar de sua própria percepção e concepção de realidade em primeiro lugar. O objetivo deste artigo é esclarecer esses aspectos recorrendo a algumas considerações de Wittgenstein sobre a dúvida, publicadas principalmente no Sobre a Certeza. Para esse fim, primeiramente farei um esboço do fenômeno do gaslighting como uma injustiça epistêmica, antes de apresentar as reflexões de Wittgenstein sobre o duvidar. Essas serão, então, aplicadas ao fenômeno do gaslighting, com um foco mais específico na evocação desses autoquestionamentos tão fundamentais em casos bem sucedidos de gaslighting, recorrendo novamente a algumas reflexões de Wittgenstein.
