Abstract

This paper presents the relationship between the notion of formal indication (formale Anzeige), as developed by Heidegger in the 1920s, and the problem of finding a definition for philosophy as a method that defines concepts. First, it seeks to demonstrate how the formal indicative procedure presupposes a detachment of husserlian philosophy and a critique of traditional logic. Hereafter, we expose Heidegger’s arguments to defend an existential featured philosophy, which sets up a sort of behavior in the world. Finally, it is explained how such a definition for philosophy has many presuppositions and is away from the quest for scientific status.
