Abstract

This paper aims to think the status of the multiple forms of life in the
legacy of Empedocles of Akragas, according to the hypothesis that his poetic-philosophical appreciation for the species in several verses is linked to loving principle of life articulation, Aphodites, wordly expression of Philotes. Since the Empedoclean approach of living beings is ambivalent, being prone to a certain melancholy, the subject of this study is defined by a seleccion and analysis of contexts in which the benefic signs of the goddess around the organized beings in their habitat predominate. Indirectly, it emerges that prototypes of current themes in biology, ecology and ethics have ancestral roots.
