The literature points out that unsafe abortion, that is, without proper medical follow-up, is still one of the major causes of maternal death in Brazil, especially in the northeastern region of the country. Unsafe abortion is often based on personal judgments (cultural, moral, religious and social) perpetrated by society in general and which women themselves share, which are reinforced by the limitations brought by the Law and pre-established concepts, on the subject of abortion. Aware of this reality, the Ministry of Health in Brazil has been acting intra and intersectorally, expanding access to comprehensive health care for women, assisting health professionals in the organization of services and the development of effective action, which should be qualified. and mostly free of judgment. In Brazil, abortion is considered a crime, except in the cases provided by law, inserted in article 128 and items I, II, III of the Penal Code (1940)
