Abstract

This work aims to initiate a reflection on some methodological techniques coherent to qualitative research and relevant to the master's project entitled "Interpersonal Violence among Adolescent Boys in Public Schools: Who Dares to Resist?", which seeks to understand factors that contribute to the increase or reduction in violence among adolescents, such as family, social, economic and cultural influences, as well as exploring the protective factors that help adolescents to resist violence or deal with its consequences. The purpose of this work, resulting from the discipline "Research Methods and Techniques", from the master's program in Sociology, is to explore and analyze different qualitative approach techniques that can be applied to research, providing a solid basis for choosing the most appropriate methodology to the study. In this first approach, eight bibliographic references were used – Bauer, Gaskell and Allum (2021); Bauer and Aarts (2022), Gaskell (2021); Jovchelovitch and Bauer (2002); Flick (2021); Bauer and Gaskell (2021) and Alonso (1998); Silva and Nahur (2020)  – to define the methodological and conceptual notions of “qualitative research in sociology”; “corpus from the methodological perspective” “individual and group interviews”; “narrative interview”, “episodic interview” and “socio-hermeneutic orientation in social research”. We conclude that defining the methodology of a research enables and helps us to make it viable and executable.
