Um estudo na unidade de internação provisória em Sergipe

Abstract

This article analyzes the development of pedagogical activities in a provisional juvenile detention unit, focusing on the role of the pedagogue in working with adolescents in conflict with the law in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil. The study adopts a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach, combining bibliographic research with fieldwork, including direct observation and semi-structured interviews with a pedagogue and two workshop teachers. The findings indicate that pedagogical activities play a central role in socio-educational practices during provisional detention, fostering coexistence, socialization, and the re-signification of adolescents’ experiences, despite structural limitations and the shortage of educational resources. The study concludes that the pedagogue’s work is essential for planning, monitoring, and ensuring the educational purpose of these practices, reinforcing the pedagogical nature of provisional detention and its relevance to accountability and resocialization processes.
