Desenvolvimento Econômico Regional e o Aproveitamento de Resíduos Sólidos no Pólo da Indústria da Cerâmica Vermelha de Pernambuco (Regional Economic Development and Utilization of Solid Waste in Polo Red Ceramic Industry of the State of Pernambuco)

Os processos industriais geram resíduos na produção dos bens de consumo, esses por sua vez deveriam ser destinados de forma a evitar ou minimizar impactos ambientais. Contudo é sabido que a legislação, apesar de estabelecer critérios e penalizações a destinações inadequadas, a fiscalização ainda é insuficiente. A indústria da Cerâmica vermelha pode ser encontrada em praticamente todas as regiões do país, pois há uma grande disponibilidade de sua matéria-prima principal a argila, devido a formação geológica do Brasil. Com isso o presente trabalho objetivou trazer norteamentos para a Indústria da Cerâmica Vermelha, apontando alternativas para os resíduos gerados na fabricação dos produtos cerâmicos, quer seja em seu processo produtivo como em outros usos, apontando para oportunidades de redução de custos com destinações finais usuais. O trabalho constou numa pesquisa exploratória de caráter bibliográfico para aproximação ao tema, e realização de estudo de caso para checagem dos dados da literatura. Constatou-se que a maioria dos resíduos gerados durante o processo até a secagem podem ser reinseridos diretamente, pois são constituídos de argila moldada em diferentes etapas. Contudo após a etapa de queima os principais resíduos são os cacos e as cinzas, e como indicações encontradas para os cacos foram agregado para concreto, argamassa ou artefatos de cimento, e para as cinzas o uso como fertilizante agrícola.
