Correlação entre a Salinidade da Superfície do Mar no Oceano Atlântico Tropical e a Precipitação da Quadra Chuvosa do Estado do Ceará

A variabilidade da Salinidade da Superfície do Mar (SSM) é modulada principalmente pela evaporação (aumenta a SSM) e precipitação (diminui a SSM). Estas alterações na SSM são capazes de prever a qualidade da precipitação terrestre através de uma teleconexão entre oceanos e continentes. Esta pesquisa é uma das primeiras a utilizar a SSM como preditora da precipitação em áreas do Brasil. O principal objetivo deste estudo é investigar uma possível influência da Salinidade da Superfície do Mar no Oceano Atlântico Tropical com a precipitação da estação chuvosa do Ceará (Brasil). Neste trabalho foram utilizados dados da SSM oriundos do Met Office Hadley Centre. Os dados de precipitação do Estado do Ceará foram obtidos da Fundação Cearense de Meteorologia e Recursos Hídricos (Funceme), através de 31 postos pluviométricos durante o período de 1991 a 2020. A relação entre a anomalia da SSM do Atlântico Tropical e a precipitação no Ceará foi realizada por meio da análise do coeficiente de correlação de Pearson, enquanto, a significância estatística do coeficiente de correlação obtido, foi realizada por meio do teste t de Student. Esta pesquisa apresentou indicativos que a SSM no Atlântico Tropical de primavera, verão e outono apresenta correlação estatisticamente significativa com a estação chuvosa do Ceará. Os valores de correlação mais significativos foram observados próximos à região equatorial do Atlântico. Sendo assim, a SSM no Atlântico Equatorial pode ser utilizada como uma variável adicional na previsão da estação chuvosa do Ceará.
