UMA INTRODUÇÃO À HISTÓRIA DA GEOMORFOLOGIA NO BRASIL: A CONTRIBUIÇÃO DE AZIZ NACIB AB’SABER

O trabalho examina a contribuição metodológica e epistemológica de Aziz Nacib Ab’Saber (1929 -) para o desenvolvimento da geomorfologia geográfica no Brasil. A partir das contribuições de Pierre Monbeig, Jean Tricart e Jean Dresch, Ab’Saber desenvolve a noção variações cíclicas do relevo em ambiente tropical quente e úmido, a partir da noção de paleopavimentos detríticos nas encostas florestadas do Brasil de Sudeste. A partir dos avanços da geologia na década de 1950 e a incorporação da teoria da pediplanação, Ab´Saber desenvolve o conceito de regiões de circundesnudação, base para a sua interpretação da compartimentação do relevo brasileiro. Na década de 11970, a partir das influências da biogeografia e da ecologia da paisagem, desenvolve a noção de redutos florestais, marco significativo para o desenvolvimento da geomorfologia geográfica no Brasil, com ampla aplicação nos estudos de ordenamento territorial
