Introduction: Alcohol consumption is the most common form of drug abuse in Brazil. In patients with HIV/AIDS, frequent ingestion of high doses of alcohol is associated with a negative outcome in treatment. Objective: Assessment of the consumption of financial companies in the use of companies, ART and consumption with clinics, and lifestyle Methods: cross-sectional study, series of cases, carried out at the Outpatient Clinic for Infectious-Parasitic Diseases of a university hospital in Northeast Brazil. Demographic and socioeconomic variables, time since AIDS diagnosis, clinical characteristics and life habits were analyzed; in anthropometry, Body Mass Index (BMI), Waist Circumference (WC) and Waist/Height Ratio (WHR) were used. Results: 144 individuals were evaluated, aged 40.39 ± 9.04 years, 56.9% male. The predominant education was high school (41%), with an income of up to 1 minimum wage. As for lifestyle, 20.1% were smokers, 41% were alcoholics and 72.9% were sedentary. Excess weight predominated in 53.5%, with risk for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) measured by WC of 36.8% and by WHtR of 82.6%. In the AUDIT (Alcohol use identification test) classification, 47.5% of the patients were at risk of alcohol dependence, which was associated with being overweight (60.7%); 50% of the individuals were classified as risk and high risk/ probable dependence, with no difference between sexes. Conclusion: consumption of alcoholic beverages, smoking and physical inactivity was high; in patients with excess weight and use of alcoholic beverages, there was a tendency towards the risk of cardiovascular disease; this habit was not associated with clinical, sociodemographic and economic variables.
