ABSTRACT
Objectives: to identify the nutritional status of users submitted to hemodialis and to verify the association of nutritional status with sociodemographic variables. Method: a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study with 80 renal patients from a hemodialysis sector. The Global Subjective Nutrition Assessment and the sociodemographic questionnaire were used. The data analysis was performed with the aid of descriptive statistics, through the distribution of its frequencies. Then, a bivariate analysis was performed between the moderate variable outcome and severe malnutrition and, nourished with each independent variable, a descriptive level of less than 0.05 was adopted. Results: of the evaluated users, 70% were characterized as nourished, 30% as moderately malnourished or with suspected malnutrition. Conclusion: the prevalence of malnutrition was found to be important among hemodialysis subjects, and the Global Subjective Nutrition Assessment is an effective tool for the classification of this user.
