ABSTRACT
Objective: to analyze the incidence of Urinary Incontinence (UI) among people aged ≥65 years in the perspective of active aging policies. Method: survey-descriptive, quantitative-based study. Participants were recruited from home visits. The instrument of data collection was composed of the personal determinants of the aging process and International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire scale (ICIQ-SF). The data was treated by descriptive analysis and correlation tests. Results: the 110 subjects investigated, were mostly, women (62.7%), had a mean age of 73 and less than seven years of education(88.2%). Loss of urine was reported in 41 (37.8%) of the participants, and urinary incontinence (73.5%) was more frequent. Conclusion: high UI rates confirm the risk for fragility that compromises the active aging process, and it is necessary to re-scale local policies, programs and actions to address Urinary Incontinence.
