Resumen

Since 1996, researches involving human beings are carried out according to the Resolution 196/96, and related norms, from the Brazilian National Council of Health, subordinate to the Health Ministry. Among the core aspects in the ethical analysis of researches involving human beings we find concepts such as “research risks”, “vulnerability”, and “incapacity”; as well as the implications of ethical behavior in the researches, along with requirements related to the defense of dignity, autonomy, and protection to the research subjects; the free and informed consent of each person involved or her/his legal representative; the commitment with the maximum of benefits and minimum damages and risks; and the social relevance of research, with significant advantages to the individuals and communities.
