Desastres Naturais e Percepção de Risco da População: um estudo de caso da inundação em Palmares (PE) em 2010

Abstract

O presente artigo analisou o ritmo pluviométrico associado ao risco de desastres no município de Palmares no ano de 2010, bem como a percepção por parte dos moradores sobre sua intervenção e contribuição para a potencialização das perdas sociais e econômicas, no intuito de contribuir com conhecimentos a respeito da convivência em áreas de riscos. Para isso, a metodologia foi baseada na interpretação rítmica, com análises em imagens de satélite GOES 12, no canal infravermelho e cartas de superfície do INPE/CPTEC. Assim, objetivou-se analisar os eventos causadores de grande precipitação, quais foram os impactos desses eventos na geomorfologia local, bem como suas consequências e por fim avaliar a relação social com áreas de riscos. Nesse contexto, constatou-se que a ocorrência de eventos de grande magnitude compromete as estruturas geomorfológicas principalmente quando associadas à ocupação humana, e que na área de estudo não há a percepção de que a ocupação realizada pelos moradores potencializou esses eventos, bem como o conhecimento de suas causas.

Mestre em Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente pela Rede PRODEMA (UFPI), na condição de bolsista do Deutscher Academischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) (2010-2012). Graduada em Licenciatura Plena em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI) (2005-2009). Professora Efetiva da Rede Municipal de Teresina. Professora visitante do Programa Nacional de Formação de Professores da Educação Básica (PARFOR/ UFPI e UESPI). Pesquisadora do Grupo de Estudos em Geomorfologia e Pedologia (GeoPed) na Linha de Pesquisa Paisagem, Geodiversidade e Geoconservação. Atua na área de Geografia Física com ênfase em Geologia, Geomorfologia, Climatologia, Pedologia, Geoconservação e Geoturismo.
