Abstract

The territories of traditional communities have often been the object of greed and dispute provoked by the advance of the great capital, landowner for the expansion of its borders, leaving them vulnerable both due to the action of this capitalist process as well as the absence of state policies directed for the defense of these territories. The social cartography comes to some extent to meet this need, since with the referenced self-representation process, such communities can be "seen" and recognized in the map document, thus givingthem subsidies for resistance and permanence in their territories.

Author Biographies

Girlan Cândido Silva, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Bacharel em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, formado em 2007. Mestre em Geografia pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Mestrado e Doutorado em Geografia da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco em 2011. Doutorando pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, desde 2018. Atua como colaborador do Laboratório de Estudos sobre Espaço, Cultura e Política (LECGeo) da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Ministra cursos de ARCGIS/ ARCMAP usando esta ferramenta também no desenvolvimento de projetos relacionados ao meio ambiente através do Núcleo de Estudos Primeira Semente em parceria com o Instituto S. O. S POLIS (Cidadania, Desenvolvimento e Sustentabilidade). Tem experiência na área de Cartografia (ARCGIS/ ARCMAP, GPS) com ênfase na Cartografia Social. Também desenvolve pesquisas em Geografia Agrária, com ênfase na questão da cana-de-açúcar e da diversificação produtiva na Mesorregião da Mata Meridional Pernambucana, em especial, na Cooperativa Agroindustrial Catende Harmonia. Atualmente é Coordenador do Curso de Graduação em Licenciatura em Geografia pelo Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Pernambuco (IFPE) na modalidade Educação a Distância (EaD) - Port. n.1.619/2014-GR.

Claudio Ubiratan Gonçalves, Universidade Federal de Pernambuco

Graduado em licenciatura (1997) e bacharelado (1999) em Geografia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense, mestrado em Desenvolvimento, Agricultura e Sociedade (CPDA) pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (2001) e doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (2005). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (Graduação e Pós). Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em Ordenamento Territorial e Ambiental, atuando principalmente nos campos das Geografias Econômica, Política e Regional nas seguintes temáticas: Movimentos Sociais, Educação do Campo, Educação Popular, Desenvolvimento Territorial, Soberania Alimentar, Assentamentos Rurais, Conflitos pela terra e pela água, Questão Agrária, Ecologia Politica e Agroecologia. É coordenador do LEPEC - Laboratório de Estudos e Pesquisas sobre Espaço Agrário e Campesinato do CNPq.
