Santa Paulina, the first saint in Brazil, attracts visitors to Nova Trento – SC, consolidating the municipality as a center of attraction religious tourism in the country. ICT - Information and Communication Technologies arrived at the sanctuary and tourism agents began to use them as another form of promotion, online. Among the countless possibilities for using cyberspace, the online social networks favor the existence of communities related to varied themes, incorporating new forms of conviviality and corporeality. Thus, the question that guides this work arises: To what extent does the use of social networks, which have the saint as a theme, influence the choice and consumption of this religious tourist destination? To this end, a netnography based on participant observation was carried out for six months on the Facebook pages of devotees and the sanctuary's official page. In these interactions, directive and non-directive interviews were carried out to capture the maximum amount of relevant information about behaviors in online communities. On another front, offline field work was carried out in the city of Nova Trento to, together with the visitor, verify or not the power of influence of online social networks. The surveys carried, online and offline, indicate the strong presence of the use of social networks as promoters of the tourist activity carried out in Nova Trento – SC based on the saint and promoters of contradictions manifest in those social networks.
