Marketing and work of furniture carpenters in Itabaiana/SE

This article is the result of master's research that analyzed the craft of carpentry in the face of the modern furniture production market in the municipality of Itabaiana - SE. The research was based on the method of Dialectical Historical Materialism with the purpose of revealing the relationships that permeate the permanence of this traditional craft, imprinting, however, changes in the production process and in the carpenter as an autonomous subject of his work. To this end, methodological procedures were necessary to grasp the reality studied in its complexity. Bibliographic and field research, secondary data collection, interviews and photographic records were necessary to support the analysis of the carpentry craft in its connections with the world of work and the industrialized furniture market. The research revealed a process of submission of furniture carpenters to market determinations, in work relationships that nullify their autonomy and knowledge as traditional knowledge that identifies these subjects.
