n recent years, the advent of geotechnology has enabled the creation of several thematic maps, among them, land use and land use maps, which have proved to be an excellent tool for professionals working with themes related to urban planning and urban planning -territorial. Therefore, the objective of this work was to explore the identification of land use and occupation types, with the purpose of supporting the identification of geomorphological risk areas, in the municipality and in the urban perimeter of Caicó, RN. The Land Use Technical Manual of the IBGE was used for the theoretical and methodological basis of the Land Use Classification, which was based on a classification supervised using data from the LANDSAT 8 Satellite (2017) and Basemap (2017) in ArcgGIS 10.3. In general, the classification of land use and occupation in Caicó opens precedents for the expansion of knowledge of geomorphological risk areas and the considerable damagesand losses they can cause, thus requiring more attention from society
