Abstract

The main object of the present work is to analyze the process of “invisibilization” lived by the women who participated in the Malvinas War as part of the Argentine sanitary body. I will approach the process of invisibility from three levels (military, political and social) to understand if it was really a systematic policy of concealment over them or not. In turn, this is combined with the silence self - chosen by themselves as a way to overcome the pains of war; generating, as a consequence, the extension for so many years of its concealment, the difficulty of going out to tell its story, and finding a receptive society when they did it. All this tries to be comprised from a gender perspective that, over the lasts years, has penetrated more and more into the Argentine society, to explain how the changes in the perceptions of the woman like sociopolitical actor of importance, a positive impact in the recognition of women who participated in the war was seen mainly from the State and civil society. Recognition which is still incomplete, given that it has not yet penetrated properly into society nor has it been comprehensively addressed from the decision-making groups.
