Abstract

This article aims to present some categories for the analysis of the digital influencers’ labor in order to assist in the systematization of perspectives that focus on labor in the cultural industry in an attempt to add to the mosaic of research that seeks to understand the different digital platforms’ labor. Therefore, based on an interdisciplinary literature review, we analyze how authenticity and entrepreneurship are constituted as pillars of these subjects’ labor, and then proceeds to how they relate to other categories of analysis used by researchers in social media studies. Finally, we try to understand how visibility is added to this context and becomes central to understanding the labor seat of the activity of digital influencers by denouncing how platforms, through algorithms, engender a precariousness around this labor.
