The Internet consists of millions of businesses, private, public, academic, and government networks of local to global scope linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless, and optical networking technologies. The Internet is considered one of humanity’s greatest inventions. Now, it is impossible to lead a life without internet access. Every area of human life is connected to the internet. It can be seen that in the modern world, it is impossible to lead a life with human dignity without internet access. The internet and its access have an important role in enjoying human rights. In the present world, the enjoyment of many human rights ensured under the international human rights law is highly connected with the internet and its free and equal access. The right to freedom of speech and expression, privacy and education are good examples. It is also important to note that after COVID-19, the role of the internet in people’s daily lives increased compared to the pre-COVID period. This research is focused on whether, in the present modern world, free and equal access to the internet is essential to enjoy human rights, especially the freedom of speech and expression. The basic objective of this research is to analyse the role of the internet in the enjoyment of human rights, especially in the enjoyment of the freedom of speech and expression.
