Textile exercises to survive the end of the world

Abstract

Three artistic-pedagogical experiences are held as the starting point of the refletins present in this text. The experiences articulated in the text are: 1) the
revitalization of an old piece of clothing (a scarf), where the artistic work was triggered by experiences and memories in northern Brazil. The result has the title of Águas do Norte; 2) a free embroidery developed due to the memories and
non-presence of a deceased mother, called Rosalina; 3) the creation of a textile narrative inspired by the technique of Chilean arpilleras entitled Denúncia ao povo, which articulates reflections of denunciation in the pandemic period and, finally, the artistic exercise of gifting, in which three embroidery were constructed by translated prayers of plants used for religious and medicine purposes. The
passage of the text is made in such a way that memories are stitched together with autobiographical and poetic glimpses, as well as it reflects on the pandemic and
the necropolitics established in the country and the practices of solidarity. All these dimensions are exercises for surviving at the end of the world.
