O feio e seu estatuto de identidade artística entre Platão e Aristóteles
Abstract
Desde Homero, costumou-se representar beleza e feiúra moral correlacionando tais características a aspectos físicos. Quando suas personagens representadas são insolentes e imorais, também são feias fisicamente; essa perspectiva artística encontrará no pensamento metafísico de Platão uma fundamentação que se consolidará hegemonicamente na tradição cultural do Ocidente, influenciando gerações de pensadores a extraditarem o feio do universo da arte. Contudo, contra a concepção de que o feio é a negação da arte, um pensador se posicionou — de modo pioneiro e por muito tempo solitário — contra essa convicção: Aristóteles. Neste artigo analisaremos as implicações filosóficas dessa querela no pensamento estético ocidental.
