Automation Overview in the SFN Compliance Audit Process

Abstract

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an emerging technology that aims to improve existing processes and accelerate the processing of large amounts of collected data to improve decision making insight. With its ability to automate rule-based tasks that are repetitive and manual, RPA allows you to redirect the auditor's role towards tasks that emphasize  higher  order  thinking  skills,  leading  to  improved  audit  quality.  This  paper presents the automation technology solution used by the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) in  the  compliance  audit  process  applied  to  the  supervision  of  the  National  Financial System (SFN). It is an automated solution that implements elements of RPA technology to  mitigate  some  challenges,  such  as:  (i)  constant  growth  in  the  number  of  entitiessupervised by the BCB; (ii) emergence of innovative business models; (iii) challenges of regulatory evolution; and (iv) constant reduction in the size of the teams.
