The article reflects and problematizes the teaching experience and offers subsidies to the improvement of teaching methodology that involves the socio-cultural aspect of students and teachers as well as parents and other members of the school community through themes present in their daily lives.The aim was to align learning strategies using the knowledge brought by the students involved in the activity -collection of recyclables, identification of the composition of the materials, disposition, market value and life time in the environment. The work of collectors of recyclable materials and their socio-environmental aspect became known. The results showed that when students are stimulated to be active agents in the learning process, greater effectiveness in the construction of knowledge and sensitivity on environmental issues occurs.
