FORMAT AND PREPARATION OF ARTICLES

Journal Template (Download to edit)

General Aspects

Manuscript submissions are accepted on a rolling basis and must be submitted using the Journal TEMPLATE. Publication, exclusively online, is quarterly (January-April, May-August, September-December) and depends on adherence to editorial guidelines and the opinions of the editorial board or ad hoc reviewers. The journal guarantees the anonymity of authors and reviewers during the editorial evaluation.

The content of the published texts is the sole responsibility of the authors.

Manuscripts should have a maximum of 3 (three) authors. The editorial board may accept up to 5 authors, provided that a letter detailing the contribution of each co-author to the manuscript is submitted.

The Journal of Geography Education (Recife) publishes theoretical or thematic texts in the field of geography education, in the following sections:

Article – original text resulting from research, and not from undergraduate theses, projects of any kind, or field research notes;

Field research notes – systematization of unpublished data or information collected in the field;

Reviews – necessarily on classic or current reference texts in geography education.

Articles should preferably be submitted in Portuguese; however, submissions in English, Spanish, or French may be accepted. In any case, an abstract in English and another in Portuguese must be included with the article.

For articles submitted in a language other than Portuguese, the authors must attach a reviewer's statement attesting to the manuscript's revision in supplementary documents.

Each researcher may submit a maximum of one article per year (12 consecutive months) as the main author or co-author.

The grammatical revision of the text is the responsibility of the authors. If significant problems are identified, the author(s) must arrange for spelling and grammar to be reviewed by a qualified professional and bear the associated costs. The editorial board may recommend qualified and trusted professionals from the journal.

Works that used human subjects as objects of study must indicate in the manuscript text the project approval number from the Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee approval opinion must be submitted as a supplementary document at the time of manuscript submission to the system.

Articles submitted for evaluation will undergo a technical review for plagiarism analysis on the Plagium platform. The editorial team verifies the data. In the case of plagiarism, even a single paragraph without proper citation is enough for the article to be returned to the author, indicating the problem. In the case of self-plagiarism, the maximum allowed is 10% of the text, or 50% when it is the result of a master's dissertation or doctoral thesis. Above this, the article is returned, with an indication of the problem. At this stage, the authors have the chance to make the necessary changes and resubmit the article for the Journal's consideration.

Cases of plagiarism reported to the Journal after the publication of articles will be analyzed by the Editorial Committee and, if the complaint is confirmed, the article will be withdrawn from the Journal immediately. Penalties may also be applied to the authors.
