This study aims to measure residential satisfaction and determine the most significant factors for its expansion. The dismantling of the housing sector in the 1980s represented the beginning of a period without significant housing development policies in Brazil. Only from the 2000s, a robust housing development program “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” has promoted expansion in this segment in the country. However, an ignored factor was the perception of the populations about the desired characteristics in the properties, compromising the residential satisfaction. The quality of life and sense of welfare of a society are influenced by the level of residential satisfaction. This study had the participation of 379 residents of the Metropolitan Region of Recife-PE and showed that the factors that most affect residential satisfaction are: characteristics of housing, public facilities, to a lesser extent with housing support services, neighborhood facilities and socialenvironment.
