Purpose: This work aimed to analyze the pro-green university skills and behaviors of employees of a federal public university.
Design/methodology/approach: It was realized the descriptive research with quantitative analysis based on the survey method with the application of questionnaires with the servants of a Higher Education Institution in the South of Brazil. Data collection is characterized by being a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience in a total of 549 respondents.
Research, Practical & Social implications: Based on the frequencies resulting from the survey, the averages and standard deviations, the sustainability skills that stood out the most are more focused on the individual scope, and collective skills, such as creating cooperation networks and partnerships for sustainable development, showed up in the background. Similarly, sustainability behaviors also denoted this individual bias, showing a deficit in issues such as participation in programs and activities that promote care for the environment, using public transport, sharing vehicles.
Originality/value: The findings of this research may be an indication that civil servants are walking the path of sustainability, but in a slow and incipient way.
