Purpose: Identify how innovative organizational culture and hybrid work are perceived and experienced in a junior company on the Computer Science course.
Design/methodology/approach: This is a qualitative and descriptive research carried out through semi-structured interviews with twelve participants from the junior company of the Computer Science course. As a methodological strategy, the Cognitive-Reflective Approach (ACR) by Pinho and Silva (2021) and Pinho and Silva (in press) was used.
Research, Practical & Social implications: This study contributes to advancing the understanding of innovative organizational culture in the context of hybrid work, helping managers and organizations to act in the development of policies and practices that cooperate with an innovative and virtual environment. The ‘focus on the individual’, guided by professional development and balance between personal life, emerged as a new determinant, not previously identified; thus demonstrating the theoretical contribution of this research.
Originality/value: Methodologically, it lies in the use of the Cognitive Reflective Approach (CRA) in the context of hybrid work in a service company. Theoretically, it advances the understanding of the aspects inherent to innovative organizational culture with the discovery of a new determinant guided by the focus on the worker.
