Abstract

Purpose: This work aimed to prepare an integrative systematic review on how the international literature is discussing the adoption of PACS technology in the healthcare area.

Design/methodology/approach: an integrative systematic review was conducted using the method proposed by Botelho et al (2011).

Research, Practical & Social implications: it was possible to understand the discussions on the international scene, addressing questions about the level of technology in European hospitals, theories of acceptance and adoption of technology, especially the efficiency of professionals in this context.

Originality/value: The findings also highlight the need to expand the amount of research involving PACS in the health area, to provide more comprehensive and updated information for researchers, health professionals and managers. Finally, the results contribute to the consolidation of knowledge about PACS adoption and provide valuable insights for decision-making in healthcare environments.
