Abstract

This article aims to present the ricoeurian interpretation of the philosophical hermeneutics elaborated by Hans-Georg Gadamer, emphasizing how the discussing of this German theorist becomes a relevant starting point for the ideas developed by Ricoeur concerning the “world of text”. Gadamer is recognized as the greatest thinker of philosophical hermeneutics of the 20th century. He carries out, together with Heidegger, the movement From epistemology to ontology. The fundamental experience through which Gadamer's work is structured is the scandal that constitutes the scale of modern consciousness, the kind of alienating distancing that seems to him to be the assumption of the sciences of the spirit. Gadamer develops this debate by considering three spheres highlighted in this essay. These 3 spheres are the spheres in which hermeneutic experience is distributed. These spheres are the aesthetic sphere, the historical sphere and the language sphere. In its closing, this paper shows how Paul Ricoeur will consider a series of fundamental suggestions that are present in the German thinker's hermeneutics which will directly influence his own hermeneutics, leading this French philosopher to reach the understanding of the “world of the text”.
