The state of Piauí, in the late 1980s of the last century, was the scene of large spatial transformations, especially in the southwest of the state, by going to receive the first agricultural projects that had strong participation in the spatial organization of some municipalities in this region. However, these projects gave way to the ";boom"; of the Brazilian agricultural frontier, starting to produce grains, primarily soybeans, and putting Piauí definitely within the world circuit production. Thus, the main objective of this paper is to analyze the dynamics of the local environment and its implications on the spatial organization of municipalities in Piauí grain producers. Thus, the question is: How the deployment of modern agriculture has contributed to the country planning in Piauí’s savannahs? The definition of space is considered, here, an essential factor to understanding environmental initiatives occurred in the Piauí’s savannahs, which are resulting from the implementation of agricultural projects that have transformed these environments in fundamental supports to the achievement of socioeconomic activities. For this, the methodological procedures consisted in: bibliographical research about this topic; research in loco, where have been carried structured and semistructured interviews with the local community, especially with managers of public agencies; and photographic record. In this way, it was found that the expansion of modern agriculture in this region is resulting in a socioenvironmental dynamization of the municipalities of Baixa Grande do Ribeiro, Bom Jesus, Ribeiro Gonçalves and Uruçuí, and articulating the elements of natural and human systems in the understanding of the dynamics of the landscape such as base of essential knowledge in the studies of environmental and territorial planning of this geographic space.
