The relationship between climate variability and the population's daily life constitutes the climatology of focus, showing different environmental impacts in space. Heavy rains trigger events in Brazil mainly in the spring-summer period that cause various disorders social life also leverage risks in the most vulnerable population. In the Brazilian Amazon, these events reverberate often in episodes with falls of trees, diseases of involvement relates to water losses in agriculture , landslides and killing of people by sinking vessels. The objective of this study was to analyze intense rainfall events and risks the population in Tefé located in the Middle Solimões region in the state of Amazonas / Brazil. For it, were used rainfall data from the Meteorological National Institute of Meteorology Station (INMET) in Tefé of the period 1970-2012. Data were treated with techniques descriptive statistics as well as percentile, technical middle, of the analysis of episodes of intense daily precipitation. Additionally, we used the newspaper report the city of Tefé to identification of risks. The results showed that intense precipitation events has increased in the last decade and these events potentiate one impacts occurred one population more vulnerable, like landslide and destruction of homes built in risk areas. We conclude that the study can serve as the subsidy of associated public policy formulation to urban planning for mitigation of hazards population.
