Eventos extremos de precipitação no Sul de Minas Gerais (Extreme rainfall weather events in the Southern Minas Gerais State, Brazil)

Este estudo teve como objetivo a utilização de dados de estações pluviométricas para investigar as características climatológicas dos eventos extremos de precipitação no Sul do Estado de Minas Gerais bem como caracterizar estatisticamente o Tempo de Retorno (TR) de tais eventos. Resultados apontam a característica monçônica da região, definida por verões chuvosos e invernos secos, onde além das médias mensais e sazonais, os desvios-padrão também acompanham tal perfil, cujos máximos e mínimos temporais e espaciais também são apresentados. A precipitação máxima diária dos meses possui distribuição espacial mais homogênea e acompanha as características das climatologias mensais e sazonais. Destaca-se as microrregiões de Andrelândia e São Lourenço com máximos dentre as estações na região de estudo. Nota-se também máximos preferenciais nos setores a sotavento da Serra da Mantiqueira, uma possível evidência da atuação orográfica no disparo e alimentação de sistemas precipitantes. Como base nos dados diários e acumulados anuais, é apresentado os resultados para os TR de tais séries, para valores 25, 50, 75 e 100% acima das médias calculadas.
A B S T R A C T
This study aims to utilize precipitation measured data in order to investigate the climatological characteristics of extreme rainfall weather events over the Southern Minas Gerais State, as well as determine statistically the Return Periods (TR) of such events. Results point to the monsoonal characteristic of the region, generalized by wet summers and dry winters, where besides the seasonal and monthly means, the standard deviation also follows such profile, which maximum and minimum values in space and time are presented. The maximum daily rainfall in every month has a more even spatial distribution and follows the behaviour of the seasonal and monthly climatology. We highlight though the micro-regions of Andrelândia and São Lourenço holding the maximum values within the area. It can be also noticed the preferable maximum values at the leeward of the Serra da Mantiqueira, a possible evidence of the orographic influence on the onset and feeding of rainfall systems. According to the daily and annually accumulated datasets, it is presented the results for TR of these series for values 25, 50, 75 and 100% above the average.
