Potential Suply of P and K by the Independence Fertilizer and its Ingredients in Successive Greenhouse Plantings
ABSTRACT
The use of the fertilizer designated Independence (IF) has been recommended in the Agreste Zone of Paraíba State. The fertilizer is composed of 14 ingredients, some expensive and difficult to purchase. In order to obtain cheaper formulations, an experiment was conducted in a greenhouse with different combinations of ingredients, using sorghum as a test plant: 1) IF; 2) IF without sweet potatoes, honey and bread yeast; 3) combination 2 without subsoil earth; 4) combination 3 without lime; 5) combination 4 without tile powder; 6) combination 5 without bone meal; 7) earthworm compost + cattle manure + lime + MB-4 + phosphate + potassium; 8) combination 7 without lime; 9) combination 8 without potassium; 10) combination 9 without phosphate; 11) manure + MB-4+ phosphate + potassium, 12) manure + MB-4, 13) manure + phosphate ; 14) manure + potassium; 15) manure ; 16) earthworm compost + MB-4 + phosphate+ potassium ; 17) + earthworm compost + MB4; 18) earthworm compost + phosphate, 19) + earthworm compost + potassium; 20) earthworm compost; 21) MB-4 + phosphate + potassium ; 22) MB-4 ; 23) phosphate, 24) potassium; 25) manure + lime; 26) + earthworm compost + limestone: 27) lime-+ MB4 + phosphate+ potassium; 28) lime; 29) lime + phosphate, 30) lime + potassium; and 31) control (soil without additions). The withdrawal of sweet potatoes, honey, subsoil earth, charcoal, tile powder, bone meal and bread yeast had no significant effect in the plant development. The dose of 5 t ha-1 of fertilizer was not enough to meet the nutritional demand of the sorghum plants. The combinations with manure and/or earthworm compost resulted in plant P and K concentrations and contents superior to those obtained with only mineral components.
Key words: manure, organic fertilizer, earthworm compost, sorghum, mineral nutrients.
