O processo de transformação de uma sociedade estamental numa sociedade de classe, foi precedido, em Recife, por uma série de agitações populares nos anos quarenta do século passado. O ciclo só termina com a Revolução de 1848; a partir daí, pouco a pouco, inicia-se a fase de implantação do capitalismo dependente. Esses levantes ocorreram em setembro de 1844 e de 1845, dezembro de 1847 e julho de 1848. De todos, o menos conhecido é o de 25 de setembro de 1845, cuja causa dominante, consiste, até hoje, num denso mistério.
The process of transforming a state society into a class society was preceded in Recife by a lots of popular manifest in the 1940s. The cycle only ends with the 1848 Revolution; From then on, the phase of implantation of dependent capitalism begins. These uprisings took place in September 1844 and 1845, December 1847 and July 1848. Of all, the least known is that of September 25, 1845, whose dominant cause is, until the present, a dense mystery.
