O CONTRAPONTO NO ULTRAMAR: SALVADOR CORREIA DE SÃ E BENAVIDES ENTRE SER SOMBRA E SER SOL.
Abstract
A transferência dos lusitanos para a América trouxe consigo um enorme aparato administrativo que marcaria profundamente o cenário colonial. Governadores, Vice-reis, ouvidores, provedores, enfim, um manancial de cargos que não só tinham a função de exercer a fiscalização régia, como da mesma forma burocratizava o dia-a-dia colonial. Além disso, tais funcionários, algumas vezes, se aproveitavam de seus cargos para conquista de benefícios pessoais, criando um grande fosso de insatisfação entre os súditos ultramarinos e os funcionários régios. Diante desta perspectiva, o presente artigo visa analisar um caso exemplar que reúne as características acima citadas: Salvador Correia de Sá Benavides. Ao analisar a trajetória desta sombra régia podemos aviltar alguns perfis e mecanismos de ações daqueles homens que, teoricamente, atravessavam o Atlântico para a manutenção do poder do monarca nas terras mais distantes do império ultramarino português.Downloads
