This article briefly analyzes the actions and subsequent persecution suffered by the Belgian priest Joseph Comblin in the context of the Brazilian military dictatorship. From the perspective of the repressive bureaucracy at the dictatorship's Information Centers, our aim is to understand the procedural nature that culminated in the priest being prevented from disembarking in March 1972 and his immediate expulsion from the country. Coordinator of theological studies at the Institute of Theology in Recife, Joseph Comblin was asked by the Archbishop of Olinda and Recife, Dom Helder Camara, to prepare a study on the basic document for his participation in the Second General Conference of Latin American Bishops. The analysis prepared by the Belgian priest in 1968 was widely publicized in the press, a fact that aroused the watchful eye of repression against him. We therefore highlight how, from then on, the dictatorship's espionage agencies worked to have him expelled from Brazil.
