Abstract

Objective: analyzing the Theory of Interpersonal Relations from Hildegar Peplau under the focus of mental health care in Centers of Psycho-Social Attention (CAPS). Method: theoretical study with reference to the criteria for analysis and evaluation of Ann Whall and answering the question "what are the definitions and the importance of the main theoretical statements and key concepts of the theory in question?". Results: the evaluation revealed that the theoretical assumptions of Peplau: orientation, identification, exploration and resolution, are operational in CAPS and can support the therapeutic process rehabilitation developed by nurses in communication and interaction with service users. Conclusion: the use of own theories has proved to be a determining factor in the autonomy of nursing as a science and as grounds for their actions. Its applicability in practice can be revealed from the analysis of these theories, as shown in this study focus on mental health.
